Turning Conversations Into Clients and Community

Thursday evening I attended a Business Leadership Workshop in Scarborough that managed to do three things well in under two hours: challenge how we think about selling, create space for real connection, and celebrate the community that makes local business thrive.
Hosted at The Avenue, the event brought together business owners and sales leaders for a workshop aptly titled Turn Conversations Into Clients. The promise was simple, learn how to close more deals without feeling pushy and Paul Doucet delivered.
Celebrating Black History Month
What really elevated the evening was its role in celebrating Black History Month. Alongside networking and business learning, the event took time to honour outstanding local Black change makers for their contributions to business and the community.
It was a meaningful reminder that strong business ecosystems don’t exist in isolation they’re built by people who invest in each other, advocate for inclusion, and recognize leadership in all its forms.
Why Events Like This Matter
This wasn’t just another business meetup. It was a well-designed experience that balanced learning, relationship-building, and community recognition — all in one evening.
Credit is due to the Scarborough Business Association for creating an event that felt purposeful, welcoming, and genuinely valuable for both members and non-members alike.
If you’re looking for networking that leads to real conversations and conversations that lead to real opportunities this is the kind of event worth showing up for.
